Complementary
Design
An engagement
ring is the often the first precious jewellery a women will receive in
her life, followed closely by her wedding ring. However, husbands
or
husbands to be are no professional designers. The engagement ring and
wedding ring they buy, while outstanding individually, may be a
disaster when placed together. This is often the very true because we
tend to search for rings that attract our attention. Unfortunately,
both loud rings compete and diminish the overall appeal of each ring,
or worse. The end result looks nothing more than a series of complex
designs placed haphazardly together.
However, bridal
ring sets are designed to be worn together; they complement each other
and enhance the aesthetic appeal of wearing both rings together. Many
bridal ring sets also come with interesting and meaningful designs,
such as using the engagement ring as a seat for the larger wedding
ring, signifying the union of the couple from the engagement to wedding
stage.
Damaging your
rings
Rings bands are
often rated with a different hardness depending on their alloy content.
Wearing rings of a different make together may result in scratch marks
and other damage by one ring on the other. Gemstones can also scratch
and damage each other or the ring.
Bridal ring sets
are made by the same jeweller and he/she will take these into
consideration when designing those rings. The jeweller will know the
exact design and composition of the rings and are much more likely to
avoid designs that look good, but are in fact bad for your rings.
Cost Savings
A diamond ring
can be a costly purchase. Two diamond rings can really cost dearly. If
you heard of economies of scale, you won't be surprised to
find that buying bridal ring sets gives you both the engagement and
wedding ring at a much lower price than you would have to pay for them
individually.
Even better,
only one of the rings in a bridal set need contain a diamond. After
all, they will be worn together, and a single large diamond serves to
bring the bridal set's design into focus.
That's what they really mean when they say two birds with
just one stone.
While there are
many advantages to buying bridal ring sets as compared to buying the
items individually, there are downsides as well. One should note that
because bridal sets come in complement pairs, it would take extra
effort to repair if any one of the rings is damaged. It may also be
impractical to wear just the engagement ring or the wedding ring alone
if the designs are well integrated.
