The rings are
matching or complementary in design and often
exhibit a greater design that encompasses both rings when worn
together.
However, while
bridal ring sets commonly refer to engagement and wedding rings, they
are not always confined to just the two.
Band
sets
For some
couples, an engagement may take place years before the actual marriage.
Since mainstream ring designs varying from time to time, it may not be
practical to buy both the engagement rings and the wedding rings at the
same time. The design of the wedding ring may have gone out of style by
the time the actual wedding took place. Others may not follow the
tradition of an engagement ring and simply opt for having a pair of
wedding bands. Of course, some couples may decide to buy more expensive
wedding bands when they can afford it as compared to buying a cheaper
set earlier on.
In such cases, a
different type of bridal ring sets known as the band set is available as an
option. Instead of having the engagement ring, the band set replaces it
with the groom's wedding ring to form a pair with the
bride's wedding ring.
The advantages
of band sets and bridal ring sets are similar; the couple can have
complementary rings and pay less for each of the ring.
Three piece
ring sets
Some couples may
look to even more cost savings by opting for a three piece ring set.
Three piece ring sets contain the engagement and wedding rings, as well
as the groom's wedding ring. A three piece set allows for
all the rings, including the groom's to be matching. At the
same time, the couple also saves some money by buying all the rings at
a price lower than the price of each individual ring.
Bridal ring sets come
in two main types of design; parallel or integrated.
Parallel ring
sets are like normal wedding rings and can be worn individually on
their own. They are complementary in design but are not as intertwine
as integrated ring sets.
Parallel ring
sets are preferred by couples who may want to hand down one or more of
their rings as a family heirloom. Integrate ring sets cannot be
separately worn and thus do not make good heirlooms.
Integrated
Integrated ring
sets are specifically designed to be worn as a pair. When worn alone,
integrated rings look incomplete.
Integrated
designs are often more complex and elaborate as compared to parallel
designs. People who are particular about having their bridal ring sets form a
part of a greater design will prefer integrated ring sets to parallel
ones. However, integrated ring sets also mean that if any one of the
rings gets damaged, the entire set will need to be sent for repair.
Repair of integrated sets are often more expensive than parallel sets.
Bridal ring sets
are not neatly separated into parallel or integrated designs. Most
rings fall somewhere between the two. It is not clear to say when a
ring can or cannot be worn on its own. Tastes differ and the same ring
may appear as a standalone ring to one, but an incomplete ring to
another.
